After graduating in economics, Gerd Palmer worked for over 8 years for Ferrero oHG in Frankfurt am Main, holding various managerial posts in sales and trade marketing.

Among his duties at Ferrero was the testing of Ferrero products on the company's own Panel for Controlled Store Tests.

In 1997 he co-founded gps dataservice GmbH in Neu-Isenburg.
