gps dataservice gmbh was founded at the end of 1997 by Gerd Palmer and Gerd Schreiner, former managers at Ferraro.
In 2002 Andreas Luppold, formerly a manager at Tchibo, joined them as a partner. The offer of gps was then broadened as a result of its cooperation with Innobrands GmbH, a consulting company focusing on marketing and innovation.
By July 2004, gps dataservice had carried over 70 Controlled Store Tests at German food stores and fuel stations, as well as many Category Management Projects for producers and retailers.
The sister company gps dataservice polska was formed in 2003 in Poland.
In 2004, the Test Panel was extended with 60 cosmetics, toiletries and household stores.
